Summary
- Triad of conjunctivitis, urethritis, and arthritis. Usually following urogenital or gastrointestinal infection.
- Pain associated with mild to moderate swelling and tenderness without significant erythema.
- Enthesopathy, heel pain and bone spurs. Spondylitis and sacroiliitis can be present.
- Symptoms can persist for 12 months.

- Check Urinary tract and eye symptoms.
Tests and Imaging
- ESR
- Test urine and stool samples, and possibly synovial fluid
- Xray
- Genetic test for HLA-B27
Immediate Treatment
- Antibiotics
- Anti-inflammatories
- Immunosuppressants
Possible Referral
- Podiatry for management of foot pain, splinting/orthotics, footwear advice and strengthening exercises.
