- Referred pain from L5/S1 disk bulge and impingement of nerve roots.
Diagnostic tips
- Patient has not responded to typical plantar fasciitis treatment.
- Pain can be generalised, with no specific tenderness on palpation.
- Pain may be present non-weightbearing.
Tests and Imaging
- EMG and Nerve conduction velocity. Absence of Hoffmann’s Reflex.
- Lumbo-sacral imaging
Immediate Treatment
- Analgesia, Gabapentin
Possible Referral
- Physiotherapy for postural correction.
- Pain clinic for caudal epidural injection.
